Group 3 and Group 19 are the main conventional typing-test categories, while Group 20 is a separate stenography/transcription test.

For DEO Grade A, 2,000 key depressions in 15 minutes corresponds to 8,000 KDPH. For JAA/LDC/UDC, the prescribed qualifying speed is 35 WPM English or 30 WPM Hindi.
Educational standard
For example, the notification specifies 12th class/equivalent for several JAA/LDC posts along with the typing requirement. Individual vacancy entries also specify the corresponding typing standard for the particular institute/post.
For Data Entry Operator Grade A, the requirement is 12th standard/equivalent plus a speed of at least 8,000 key depressions per hour.

The Group 19 posts have additional Medical Records qualifications, experience and computer requirements, but the typing component remains 35 WPM English / 30 WPM Hindi.
AIIMS CRE-5 Group 20: Stenographer, PA & Private Secretary
Group 20 is different from the normal typing test because candidates first have dictation and then computer transcription.

For English transcription, a QWERTY keyboard is provided. For Hindi, the prescribed system is Mangal, with no provision for another keyboard/font.
Some individual ICMR Personal Assistant vacancies additionally mention 120 WPM shorthand as part of their post-specific qualification. Candidates should therefore check the specific vacancy they are applying for rather than assuming every PA entry has identical eligibility.
The Most Important Part: How AIIMS CRE-5 Counts Typing Errors
AIIMS CRE-5 does not simply count every wrong character as one mistake.

The omission of “an” is counted as one full mistake. A wrong substitution or addition of a word is also a full mistake.

Wrong capitalization is not applicable to Hindi typing.
The notification also specifies that extra spacing resulting from text justification is not counted.
Important CRE-5 Typing Error Rules

The notification explicitly limits multiple errors in one word to a maximum of one full mistake.
How Total Mistakes Are Calculated
This is the official formula:Total Mistakes=Full Mistakes+Half Mistakes2
Example
Suppose a candidate has:
- Full Mistakes = 4
- Half Mistakes = 7
Then:4+72=7.5
Total Mistakes = 7.5
There is no rounding off.
So 7.5 remains 7.5, not 7 or 8.
AIIMS CRE-5 Penalty Calculation
AIIMS uses:5 strokes=1 word
and:1 Full Mistake=50 penalty strokes
Therefore:Penalty Strokes=Total Mistakes×50

If:

- Half Mistakes = 4

So the candidate receives a 600-stroke penalty.
Gross WPM vs Net WPM
This is one of the biggest differences between ordinary typing websites and an exam-oriented calculation.

The notification's own example uses 3,000 strokes − 1,000 penalty = 2,000, resulting in 40 WPM for a 10-minute test.

Suppose a candidate attempts a 15-minute typing test.

AIIMS CRE-5 Accuracy Formula
The notification also provides an accuracy calculation:Accuracy=Net Typing SpeedGross Typing Speed×100
For example, if:
- Gross WPM = 50
- Net WPM = 40
then:4050×100=80%

Minimum Attempt Requirement
AIIMS has also specified a minimum gross input requirement. When the candidate does not enter enough material, the authority says the mistakes should not be checked and the result should show “Insufficient Attempt.”
